About you and this role As the Tax Technologist for Dow’s operations and facilities in Texas, you will be part of our Tax Operations Department with specific responsibilities around local state property taxes.
In this role, you will interact with internal and external professionals to implement and manage regional property tax work processes for Dow.
The successful candidate will accomplish this by ensuring that we accurately and timely file property tax returns, comply with existing property tax law(s), manage payment of property tax within statutory deadlines and manage historical documentation for the company.
Responsibilities Work with various internal and external teams to ensure the receipt-of and accuracy of tax returns and obtain inputs necessary to meet different data requirements.
Prepare new property tax returns by incorporating related land improvements, personal property, railcars, pipelines, and inventory.
Actively review assessment notices in counties where operations exist, identify any issues and variances that require escalation.
Assist in the collection of documentation needed to protest assessments as well as provide input to Dow Leadership.
Acts as a Lead with Property Tax Cycle which includes having a full understanding of the rendition, payment and appeals process and with ability to implement, manage and communicate the requirements and impacts.
Provide property tax estimates to internal stakeholders and other functions responsible for budgeting future property tax costs.
Function as the subject matter expert for Texas state property tax reporting and participate in analysis where your expertise can be beneficial to outcomes.
Manage and own processes related to accrual account reconciliation.
Qualifications A minimum of 5 years of relevant indirect tax experience is required.

Preferred Skills Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated competencies in areas such as self-leadership, initiative, teamwork, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Strong work ethic and able to remain productive in an empowered team environment.
A sense of ownership in assigned area of responsibility.
