Description This person performs accounting and reporting tasks for grants and financial assistance to the county, including account analysis, journal entries, and developing financial statements.
Job Responsibilities Prepares journal entries recording and adjusting financial transactions.
Prepares and tracks correspondence with grantor agencies.
Prepares financial reports for grantor agencies.
Prepares budget adjustments and monitors grant budgets.
Performs transaction analysis of grant activities.
Performs bank reconciliations for grantor banking transactions and statements.
Performs payroll analysis for grantor reports.
Prepares financial analysis requested by grantor agencies and participating departments.
Participates in preparing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and Single Audit reports.
Must be able to report regularly for work and be on time.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications College degree in accounting preferred; finance or related major accepted, with accounting as minor.
3+ years’ experience in accounting, government or non-profit accounting preferred but not required.
Knowledge of accounting techniques and analysis.
Understanding of county department operations, organization, accountability and responsibility.
Knowledge of generally accepted governmental accounting principles.
Ability to analyze problems, prepare financial and statistical reports, and communicate clearly.
Proficiency in working with computer programs, including MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.
) Must pass Criminal Background check.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
