Prosecute Class "C" misdemeanors in Municipal Court; advise officers of the Police Department regarding criminal legal procedures; conduct legal and investigative research; draft and review legal memoranda, policies, ordinances and other legal documents; assist City Attorney and Deputy City Attorney as directed.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Perform legal research and draft memoranda, policies, ordinances, and other legal documents.
Prosecute Class "C" misdemeanors in Municipal Court of Record and appeals therefrom to the County Court; research, review, and analyze criminal statutes and case law; assist court personnel as required.
Advise police officers regarding legal issues pertaining to detection, investigation, and prosecution of criminal cases; provide training to police officers regarding changes in criminal law and procedure.
Review and respond to Public Information requests and seek determinations by the Attorney General as required.
Assist the City Attorney as assigned in advising City departments and officials regarding legal issues and inquiries.
Attend various City Council, board, commission, and departmental meetings to provide legal assistance as instructed by the City Attorney.
Comply with continuing legal education requirements established by the State Bar of Texas and all other requirements to maintain law license.
Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
Regular and timely attendance at work.
