Intro to the Regulatory and Compliance team The Regulatory and Compliance team is responsible for supporting the regulatory and compliance aspects of our products and services and managing the compliant execution of our business.
We work on exciting and challenging regulatory and compliance issues and pave the way for our company to deliver superb products in a compliant manner.
We are at the forefront of GoCardless' expansion in North America by paving the way with the right regulatory licensing strategy and the implementation of forward-thinking and appropriate processes and controls that require problem-solving and innovative thinking.
The role You will be responsible for all US and Canada regulatory and compliance matters at GoCardless and entrusted with developing a comprehensive regulatory strategy and the deployment of the compliance programs.
You will take a consultative approach and work closely with every business division and the global regulatory compliance team to implement and manage an innovative and practical, yet thorough, compliance regime that may include cross-border contractual setup with the regulated entities of the group.
What excites you Developing a comprehensive regulatory strategy for the US and Canada that is fit for GoCardless' current business and strategic objectives Obtaining (if needed) and maintaining all requisite licences and authorizations (including managing of changes in scope of products and org) Managing regulatory oversight, controls, reporting and engagement for the US and Canada Managing regulatory examinations and audits Supporting corporate governance to maintain good standing and meet obligations In collaboration with product counsel and other members of the team, conducting regulatory assessments to identify regulatory risks and a path to compliance As the Compliance Officer, and in collaboration with the Global MLRO and the Financial Crimes team, overseeing and managing the implementation of the AML/CTF and Sanctions compliance programs in the US and Canada Supporting the implementation/localization of various compliance programs in the US and Canada Supporting the relevant regulatory and compliance training of the Board, executive management, and other employees Supporting the development of a network of banks and other partner financial institutions that underpin the operation of GoCardless' products Providing advice and counsel to business and product groups relating to payment scheme rule compliance and other relevant regulatory requirements regarding compliance obligations What excites us We are looking for someone with experience in regulated financial services and passionate about helping us continue to innovate in the fast-paced fintech industry.
You may be an experienced financial services regulatory manager, coming from a larger organisation and looking for an exciting new challenge, or perhaps you have already been through a high-growth journey in a similar role, and are excited about taking on similar challenges in a company with a great culture.
We'd love to hear from you if: You have direct experience managing a regulated financial services company in the US.
You can counsel and advise the business and product teams on how regulations impact the business' products and expansion plans, helping the business to navigate a path forward.
You have dealt directly with financial services regulation and regulators.
You have experience in drafting, implementing and rolling out compliance plans, frameworks and policies across a company or department.
You are easy to work with, and want to work in a fun, fast-growing but demanding young company.
You can operate at a strategic level and demonstrate the value of compliance.
You have strong communication skills and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Bonus points if: You have experience interacting and building relationships with state regulators on MTL matters, and FinCEN on BSA matters.
