Job Description
The Financial Analyst performs independent analysis for the organization in support of the annual budget, long range financial forecast, and quarterly budget reports.

Assist in the preparation of the annual budget by working with the departments, preparing worksheets and presentations
Assist in the preparation of the quarterly financial reports
Assist in the monitoring of departmental budgets
Research and compare financial data with comparison cities
Maintain historic database, analyze data and assist in the revenue and expenditure forecasting
Assist in the preparation of the Long Range Financial Forecast
Assist in the implementation of performance measures
Assist in cost of services and analysis and cost allocation plans
Review and process budget reallocations and amendments
Assist in tracking and accounting for capital expenditures, including monitoring capital improvement projects and associated budget /contract schedules
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field
Must have at least three to five years of experience in budget, management analysis or accounting
Additional years of relevant experience may substitute for educational requirement
Supplemental Information
Knowledge of:
Governmental accounting principles and practices
Extensive knowledge of municipal budget and management practices, policies and procedures
Skill in:
Spreadsheet application and word processing
Proficient working with mainframe applications concerning accounting, purchasing and related fields
Effective communication in both verbal and written form
Ability to:
Apply federal, state and local statutes to accounting procedures and practices
Work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
