What you will do in this role:
Registered Nurse coordinates nursing care for the patients and participates in patient/family education.
Works collaboratively with ancillary staff and other patient care personnel in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
Participates in performance improvement activities to improve patient safety and quality of care.
Maintains cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers.
Promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment.
Fulfills departmental responsibilities consistent with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast.
What qualifications you will need:
Current Texas Licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners
Associates Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BLCLS) and Certification
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification
American Red Cross or American Heart Pediatric Association Advanced Life Support Course (PALS) and Certification
CPI and TNCC within 6 months from date of hire
One year Emergency experience in acute care setting
Qualifications for StaRN Plus Emergency Department Cohort:
1+ years of RN experience (non-critical care areas)
Houston – Emergency Department Training Cohort Start Date:
1/08/2024
10 - Week training for experienced RNs
• Four (4) weeks of interactive classroom discussions, case studies, hands-on skills training, and simulations with experienced StaRN clinical instructors
• Six (6) weeks of unit-based clinical preceptorship
Interactive classroom lectures/discussions :
Curriculum based on evidence-based practice, National Standards and HCA Healthcare Clinical Standards of Excellence
Basic Dysrhythmia
AHA Basic Life Support / Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Meditech (EHR) hands-on training • Critical Care medication management
Communication Tools based on Team STEPPS®
AIDET, SBAR, Patient Experience, Fall Prevention and more
AACN: CCRN Online Review Course – Online courses providing a broad base of content necessary for orientation for nurses new to Critical Care Nursing Hands-on Critical Care skills training, that includes but not limited to:
IV and Phlebotomy
Ventriculostomy set up and management
Chest tube management
Pump management
Critical care medication titration
Blood administration
Hemodynamic monitoring
Ventilator management/troubleshooting Five Days of high-fidelity simulation
Critical Care - specific scenarios
Comprehensive facilitated video debriefing
The RN Plus Emergency Department program provides a pathway for the experienced RNs to transition into the clinical practice with a strong core of nursing fundamentals and critical thinking skills
